Week 1 Sessions: Getting Up and Running
Getting Started with Excel and Google Sheets: Features, Formats, and Functions
Monday, Jan. 11, 2-4 p.m.
Talk the talk when it comes to spreadsheets. We’ll review spreadsheet lingo, learn to write functions, and compare unique features between Excel and Sheets.
Presentations that Impress
Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2-4 p.m.
Being a skilled presenter is much more than knowing Powerpoint. We'll cover the mechanics of creating a great presentation and, more importantly, how to hone your presentation skills so you rise above the crowd.
Analyzing Data with Pivot Tables
Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2-4 p.m.
Answer questions about your data with ease using pivot tables. We’ll learn how to setup data validation, slice and dice across categories, and create dashboards that tell your data’s story.
Getting Started with Video Editing Using Premiere Pro, Rush, Spark and More
Thursday, Jan. 14, 2-4 p.m.
Creating a great video is more than recording something on your phone. It’s adding photos, text, and audio. We’ll take a look at the tools out there—some needing paid licenses and some free—and give you a base from which to start.
Week 2 Sessions: Padding Your Skills
Specialty Functions in Google Sheets
Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2-4 p.m.
These aren’t your dad’s functions. They’re unique to Sheets and open up a whole new world of possibilities. We’ll create an expanding lookup from an unordered table, extract a subset of data from messy strings, and build a pivot table that isn’t actually a pivot table.
Slice, Dice and Visualize Data in Tableau
Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2-4 p.m.
Employers favor candidates who can bring to the table an understanding of the concepts of data visualization. Tableau brings drag and drop simplicity to creating charts and visualizations that tell the story buried in the data. Anyone with a working familiarity with spreadsheets can take themselves to new heights with tools like Tableau!
Dive into Photo Editing in Photoshop
Thursday, Jan. 21, 2-4 p.m.
We’re going to test our endurance as we look at Photoshop’s tools, functions, filters and effects. Learn to touch-up photos, manipulate them, work with color and make animated gifs. Then, we’re going to pull up a few other options that you might want to consider as well.
